STOT Statewide Workshops Registration Information

The purposes of the Scoring Training of Trainers (STOT) workshops for the 2017–18 Edition for Initial Assessment only, of the California English Language Development Test (CELDT) are to train participants to:

  • Standardize the administration of the CELDT
  • Reliably score constructed-response items in Writing and Speaking
  • Train other qualified persons locally to administer the CELDT

New STOT participants: Registration priority for the 2017–18 STOT workshops will be given to CELDT district trainers who have never attended a STOT and trainers for regional workshops.

Previous STOT participants: CELDT district trainers who have previously attended a STOT workshop must fulfill the 2017–18 training requirement by either (1) completing the online training presentations and quizzes in the Moodle Training Site, or (2) attending a regional workshop. However, interested previous participants will be automatically wait-listed for a possible last-minute slot in a workshop; and will be notified a week prior to each workshop if space is available.

Registration

Registration opens Monday, February 13, 2017. Only the CELDT District Coordinator can register participants for STOT workshops. Registration is available online only via the secure District Portal (logon required) on the CELDT Web site. A district may register one staff member on a first-come-first-served basis; subsequent registrants and previous participants will be wait-listed for a possible last-minute slot in a workshop. Seven days prior to each workshop, available seats will be filled from the waiting list (see Waiting List below). Participants must be registered and receive a registration confirmation e-mail in order to gain entrance to a workshop. Drop-ins may be turned away due to capacity limitations.

Immediately after submitting registrations on behalf of all attendees, a Request to Attend confirmation page will appear confirming receipt of the registration request. Within five working days, confirmation of registration status will be e-mailed to each registrant at the e-mail address provided in the Request to Attend form. Approximately one week before the workshop, a reminder e-mail will be sent to each confirmed participant.

Waiting List

Registration for each workshop will close when the workshop is full, or seven working days prior to the workshop, so please register early. CELDT District Coordinators may submit a Request to Attend form for more than one staff member and interested previous STOT participants. These staff members will be automatically placed on a waiting list. Staff members placed on the waiting list will receive an e-mail confirmation that they are on the waiting list and will be notified seven days prior to the workshop if a seat is available.

Check-in and Refreshments

Check-in for each workshop will begin at 7:30 a.m., and the workshop will run from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. Participants must stay for the entire training to become certified.
